Railway Family Week 2023
This year we held our third annual Railway Family Week. The aim of the week was to bring together the entire rail industry to fundraise and raise awareness of RBF. Take a look at the highlights below.
Big Railway Family Week Challenge
This year, we launched the first Big Railway Family Week Challenge. Teams from Porterbrook, RSSB, Clemtech, Arriva Rail London and Freightliner came together to help us cover the length of the UK while raising money. Our teams smashed this target, completing over 12,000,000 steps over three weeks! The Arriva Rail London team went one step further, organising a group walk from their London HQ to Hatch End Station, walking 15 miles in 7.5 hours.
Congratulations to Clemtech, winner of this year’s challenge!
Auction of Experiences
Our popular Auction of Experiences was back with over 60 money-can’t-buy rail experiences up for grabs. Prizes included cab rides, a day at the BTP Dog School, drive a Routemaster bus, walk the Forth Bridge or spend the day with Network Rail on their New Measurement Train. The Auction closed on 4th May and over £23,000 was raised!
Raffles
This year we had two incredible raffles available. Our Hornby Daily Prize Draw raised over £800 and we gave away 5 fantastic Hornby items. We also raffled an amazing Desktop Departure Board, which raised over £900.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us this Railway Family Week. The last 12 months have been particularly difficult for the rail industry, and we have had our services called on like never before. In 2022, we supported over 1,000 railway people and their families with financial grants, debt advice and legal help. In addition, we launched a new Energy Fund to support with the cost-of-living crisis and increase in energy bills.
Money raised ensures that we can continue to support current, former and retired railway people through hardship.
